Album Notes Rosco Gordon was one of the most distinctive R&B pianists of the `50s. His brashly syncopated rhythms threw heavy emphasis on the upbeat and served as an inspiration to Jamaican musicians, who would use the "Rosco rhythm" as a fundamental building block of ska, rocksteady, and reggae. LET'S GET HIGH offers an exhaustive survey of Gordon's recordings for Sam Phillips's Sun label, and contains some of the most wildly inspired and sometimes frighteningly unhinged R&B ever pressed to wax.
