Album Notes This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. The Crystal Method: Ken Jordan, Scott Kirkland. Additional personnel includes: Rahzel, John Garcia, Sha-key, Milla Jovovich, Lisa (vocals); Wes Borland, Jon Brion (guitar); DJ Swamp (scratches). Recorded at The Bomb Shelter, Glendale, California. Japanese edition includes bonus remixes of "Born Too Slow" and "Weapons of Mad Distortion". For their third full-length outing as the Crystal Method, the electronica duo of Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland stick to their big-beat guns, unleashing another collection of club-ready tracks that feature guests aplenty. Hip-hop luminary Rahzel lends his vocals to three tracks ("Starting Over," "The American Way," and "Acetone"), while former Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland contributes his heavier-than-thou riffs to a trio of tunes ("Born Too Slow," "Broken Glass," and "Weapons of Mass Distortion"). On the dreamier end of the Method's musical spectrum, actress/singer Milla Jovovich turns in an ethereal vocal performance on "I Know It's You." Rather than reinventing their techno-wheel, Jordan and Kirkland play to their strengths on LEGION OF BOOM by mixing samples with distorted keyboards and driving rhythms. The result is a disc of amped-up singles custom-made for the dance floor.
Industry Reviews [A] seriously addicting listen... CMJ (01/26/2004)
3 stars out of 5 - [T]he album is really about the duo's ominous sonic vision, which revels in the ghouls'n'goblins ooze of 'Bound Too Long'. Mojo (02/01/2004)
3 stars out of 5 - Most of LEGION OF BOOM is as accelerated as the trailer for a new action blockbuster: all adrenalinized tempos and high-impact beats... Rolling Stone (02/05/2004)
