Synopsis After winning a basketball reporting contest, eighth graders Stevie and Susan Carol are sent to cover the Final Four tournament, where they discover that a talented player is being blackmailed into throwing the final game., John Feinstein, well-known sportswriter and commentator for NPR and Sporting News Radio, makes his debut in children's fiction with this basketball mystery. Eighth grader Stevie's writing has garnered him an amazing prize--the opportunity to cover the Final Four basketball tournament in New Orleans. But his joy turns to shock when he and fellow winner Susan Carol inadvertently discover that someone is trying to pressure a Minnesota State player into throwing the championship game.
