Movie Description
Created by Spanish comedienne Maria Elena Velasco, the beloved "La Linda Maria" character is a hilarious take on the Mexican archetype of the uneducated rural peasant. Velasco reprises her trademark character for the farcical Mexican comedy LAS DELICIAS DEL PODER, in which La Linda Maria meets her long-lost twin sister, from who she was separated at birth. Raised by a privileged family, the estranged sister is now a rising politician making a successful mayoral run when she is felled by an accident and lapses into a coma. It isn't long before the politically clueless Maria is brought in to take her place, resulting in a PRINCE AND THE PAUPER-like tale of hidden identities and political hijinks. This Mexican satire is presented in Spanish without subtitles.
