Synopsis Nat, an orphan since he was very young, turns to acting to let off some steam. But soon, Nat discovers he has real talent and lands a part in an acting troupe that will be performing one of Shakespeare's plays in London's reconstructed Globe Theater. He's excited to get the chance to leave the United States, but when he arrives in London, life drastically changes for Nat when he finds himself transported back to the year 1599, where he meets Shakespeare himself!, While in London as part of an all-boy acting company preparing to perform in a replica of the famous Globe Theatre, Nat Field suddenly finds himself transported back to 1599 and performing in the original theater under the tutelage of Shakespeare himself.

Industry Reviews "Most powerful are [the author's] descriptions of the story and imaginative staging of A MIDSUMMER'S NIGHT DREAM....Her poignant characterization of Nat, whose grief is released by Shakespeare and healed by his words, captures perfectly an adolescent in thrall of the theater, in all its grittiness and grandeur." Kirkus Reviews (11/19/1999)
