Synopsis Jackie is thrilled when her fourth grade teacher, Ms. Sugarman, doesn't see her as a problem student--as her previous teachers have--but instead encourages her enthusiasm and channels it into more appropriate classroom behavior. By midyear, Jackie is known as the teacher's pet and finds herself, for the first time, looking forward to going to school. But then Ms. Sugarman is appointed principal, which means she won't be Jackie's teacher anymore. Can Jackie think of a way to keep Ms. Sugarman in the fourth grade?, Jackie, who has always had trouble in school, begins to develop more self-confidence under the guidance of her fourth-grade teacher and is crushed when Ms. Sugarman is promoted to principal in the middle of the school year.
