Movie Description
Lane Janger has proven himself to be a virtual one-man movie by juggling the roles of cowriter, director, producer, and star in JUST ONE TIME, a highly original romantic comedy. Despite a groan-worthy plot that reeks of Penthouse Forum--a young man wants to have a threesome with his fiancée and another woman--Janger has managed to tell an endearing and ultimately rosy love story. Two weeks before his wedding, Anthony, a macho New York fireman, is dying to see his "ultimate fantasy" fulfilled. His future wife, Amy, grudgingly agrees, but with one condition--Anthony has to return the favor by sleeping with another man. The couple enlist their colorful neighbors, Vincent (Guillermo Diaz), a virginal gay guy with a crush on Anthony, and Michelle (Jennifer Esposito), a sardonically sexy lesbian, to help bring the arrangement to fruition. What follows is a dizzying ride that contains more plot twists and misunderstandings than an episode of THREE'S COMPANY. Diaz and Esposito bring emotional complexity to their roles, adding layers of depth to the story with their deft character portrayals. A finely tuned blend of smart dialogue, sophisticated performances, and wacky situations, JUST ONE TIME offers some wise advice about love and monogamy.

JUST ONE TIME was developed from a 8 minute short film of the same name that Langer made in 1997. That short film was an audience favorite at the 1998 Sundance Film Festival.

Jennifer Esposito (Michelle) shot all of her scenes on the weekends, as she was simultaneously shooting Spike Lee's SUMMER OF SAM.

The four main characters are played by the very same actors who starred in the original short film.

The film was shot primarily in the East Village. The firehouse scenes were shot at a real firehouse in Hoboken, NJ, as Janger found New York firehouses were too busy for filming.

JUST ONE TIME was screened at the 1999 Toronto Film Festival.

Fire Flag, a support group for gay firemen, helped Langer develop the parts of his film which involve a fireman coming out.

Industry Reviews
"...It raises consciousness in a number of directions while being good-natured fun throughout..."
Los Angeles Times - Kevin Thomas (03/23/2001)

Quotations
"But can I trust you with the fish?" --Anthony (Janger) to Amy (Carter)

"Just because I don't trust you doesn't mean I don't want to marry you" --Anthony (Lane Janger) to Amy (Joelle Carter)
