Industry Reviews With big color photographs of smiling children dressed up as firefighter, ballet dancer, surgeon, lawyer, mail carrier, pilot, and many other kinds of workers, this large-size volume is a cheerful introduction to the world of work. . . . There are facts about tools, equipment, and the workplace, with small, captioned pictures of adults on the job. The models are posed and self-consciously cute, but the cast is multicultural, the career choices are non-sexist (there's a waiter and a waitress), and girls and boys trying out various adult roles will find facts and images here to help them choose.

This handsome book is certainly visually appealing. Its photographs and illustrations, in brilliant color, are unusually attractive. . . . While the children in the illustrations appear to be quite young, the vocabulary in a number of cases is rather advanced. This book would be a valuable addition as supplemental reading material in elementary school, but the teacher should examine the vocabulary level quite carefully to make sure that it is suited to the students in his or her particular class.
