Album Notes The enhanced portion of this release contains an unreleased video footage and more. This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. Personnel: Alanis Morissette (vocals, harmonica); David Levita (guitars, mandolin); Jason Orme (guitars); Ralph Morrison, Sara Parkins (violin); Roland Kato (viola); Steve Erdody (cello); Zac Rae (piano, organ, pump organ, keyboards); Cedric LeMoyne (bass guitar); Blair Sinta (drums, cajon drums, maracas, percussion). Liner Note Author: Alanis Morissette. Recording information: Westlake Audio, Hollywood, CA; Aerowave Studios, Los Angeles, CA. Ten years after the 1995 release of her bold Maverick debut, JAGGED LITTLE PILL, Alanis Morissette commemorated her breakthrough album by re-recording it in an acoustic-based studio setting. Those predicting safe reinterpretations of Morissette's headstrong, diary-like songs are proven wrong; here Glen Ballard's slick rock production is replaced by his own earthy, organic new arrangements, and Morissette is clearly invigorated by the chance to rework some of her most beloved tunes. The decade since JAGGED LITTLE PILL made Morissette a more savvy and nuanced artist. Some tracks, including the vibrant, Middle Eastern-inflected "All I Really Want" and the yearning "Wake Up," feature a string quartet, while others are transformed into spare, folk-like numbers. Morissette's revamping of her scathing rock hit "You Oughta Know" glides along on acoustic-guitar strumming and minimal drum beats, and "Head Over Feet" is transformed into a gentle, piano-led tune. Although JAGGED LITTLE PILL ACOUSTIC still showcases her youthful verve, it's a record that reveals a subtler, more mature side of Morissette, and reinforces her remarkable staying power.

4 Stars - Excellent - ...Caught somewhere between Tori Amos and a souped up Liz Phair, just a few bars of the opening `All I Really Want' should be enough to convince that she really is a bit special... Q (09/01/1995)
Ranked #32 in Village Voice's 1995 Pazz & Jop Critics' Poll. Village Voice (02/20/1996)

Ranked # 31 in Rolling Stone's Women in Rock: The 50 Essential Albums Rolling Stone (10/31/2002)
7 (out of 10) - ...sufficient a mixture of clean-cut looks and post-teen angst to be pop's very own Winona Ryder. Graphic enough in her lyrics, yet demographic enough in post-grunge sound to be the mainstream Liz Phair....Even more amazingly, she's quite good....if this is illusion, Alanis Morissette is mighty good at using it... Melody Maker (09/09/1995)
