Synopsis Ramon loses confidence in his ability to draw, but his sister gives him a new perspective on things., Ramon loves to draw, sketching "anything anytime anywhere." A maliciously derisive remark from his older brother Leon as Ramon draws a flower vase ("What is that?") transforms Ramon's passion into a horrible exercise in futility, endlessly trying to make his pictures look "right." After crumpling up countless pieces of paper, Ramon gives up ("I'm done.") His little sister Marisol grabs one of the discarded drawings and Ramon chases her to her room, where he learns that she's set up her own "crumpled gallery" of his thrown-away sketches, and she identifies the picture of the vase that started his tailspin as "one of my favorites." Ramon objects, and she responds that "it looks vase-ish." Ramon is suddenly "light and energized. Thinking ish-ly allowed his ideas to flow freely." Full-color ink-and-watercolor illustrations accompany the text.
