While Juicy J can claim to be one of the architects of the dank, dark Memphis hip-hop sound as both producer and MC for the Three 6 Mafia, his solo records are few and far between. With HUSTLE TIL I DIE, in 2009, Juicy broke seven years of solo silence (although, he did, among other things, win an Oscar during that time) with a taut, sober record telling tales of the long hustle. A balanced one-man hip-hop attack, Juicy J brings inventive production, as on the soulful "30 Inches," along with compelling angles on old territory, as on the Fed-challenging "Ghost Dope."
