Album Notes Los Lobos: David Hidalgo (vocals, guitar, accordion, lap steel guitar, percussion); Cesar Rosas (vocals, guitar, bajo sexto, mandolin); Steve Berlin (soprano, tenor & baritone saxophones, percussion); Conrad Lozano (bass, guitarron, vocals); Louie Perez (drums, guitar, quinto). Additional personnel: T-Bone Burnett (acoustic guitar, organ); Alex Acuna (percussion). Recorded at Capitol Recording Studio, Reggie Fisher Recording Studio, Producers Workshop and Warner Bros. Recording Studio, Los Angeles, California. The critical breakthrough album for a refreshing sound that created Tex-Mex rock 'n' roll. The band were already a highly efficient live band by the time of this release and their confidence flows as they tackle different styles, from straight rock 'n' roll on "I Got Loaded" to traditional Mexican folk with "Serenata Nortena". "Evangeline" and "Don't Worry Baby" are also strong album tracks, with the latter featuring a piercingly good guitar solo over a furious drum beat. The title track is the peak - the best vocal performance that Steve Winwood never sang; the resemblance to Winwood on this track is uncanny.
