HOW TO BE tells the comic story of a young, newly dumped singer-songwriter who hires a life consultant guru to help him become "more normal." The 2008 indie flick boasts Robert Pattinson in the lead, fresh off his elevation to teen heart-throb for his turn as TWILIGHT's top vampire, and one of the big lures of the soundtrack is Pattinson, a musician oft-spotted on L.A. stages, performing three original songs. In addition to Pattinson's brand of Ben Lee-esque mod-folk, the HOW TO BE soundtrack includes patches of Joe Hastings's score, electronic daubs by Johnny White, and offbeat nuggets by Love, Captain Beefheart, and the Roches.
