Movie Description This witty, fast-paced romp, adapted from the stage play "The Front Page" by Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur, is full of bawdy double entendres and gender-bender innuendos. Star newspaper reporter Hildy Johnson's just informed Walter Burns, her suave managing editor and new ex-husband, that she's leaving the paper and planning to remarry. Walter, a handsome hard-boiled sophisticate, wouldn't dare show his true feelings for Hildy. But somehow, he's got to try and prevent her from resigning and remarrying. His plan: assign Hildy one last front page headliner. If things go accordingly, he'll have the story he needs and the woman he wants. Hawks' updated version is a classic must-see for fans of great entertainment.
Film Notes The film is remake of the original 1931 version, THE FRONT PAGE, directed by Lewis Milestone.
