Movie Description This powerful three-hour miniseries from directors Roger Spottiswoode and Koreyoshi Kurahara, about the bombing of Hiroshima at the end of World War II, takes a balanced view of the events leading up to that cataclysmic event, dramatizing the agonizingly difficult decisions faced by both President Truman (Kenneth Walsh) and Emperor Hirohito (Naohiko Umewaka). Interviews with real politicians, soldiers, and witnesses are also included here, adding to the program's sharp sense of history and realism.
Synopsis Directors Roger Spottiswoode and Koreyoshi Kurahara explore the wartime dynamics in both Washington and Tokyo that led the U.S. to drop the atomic bomb, and the tragic consequences for the razed cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
