If you're searching for a midline-priced, concise overview of early Grand Funk Railroad, HEAVY HITTERS is highly recommended. While Grand Funk enjoyed chart success with its later singles, the trio was always more of an album-oriented band--some of its finest tracks were never even issued as 45s. This 12-track compilation doesn't include such latter-day hits as "We're An American Band" or "The Loco-Motion," but it does feature such early highlights as "Closer to Home," "Footstompin' Music," "Are You Ready?" and "Get it Together."
