Synopsis
Not so much a history of the Harry Potter books as a look at the cultural frenzy they created, this dive into the world of Potter-mania tracks the 10 years during which the seven books in J.K. Rowling's series were originally published. The author, the webmistress of the Potter-themed Leaky Cauldron Web site, explores everything from Internet rumors of character deaths, to rock bands inspired by the wizarding world, to the phenomenon of book banning. This celebration of the books that changed the face of children's literature (for example, their popularity inspired the New York Times to start listing children's and young adult bestsellers) features an introduction by Harry's own creator, author J.K. Rowling.
