With his self-released debut album, Houston, TX rapper Big Pokey established himself as a major player in the highly competitive world of Southern hip-hop. For his follow-up effort and major-label debut, Big Pokey signed with Universal Records and released this winner. The title of the album reflects not only Pokey's love of pit bulls but also his conception of his standing as a rapper. Tracks like the braggadocious "Hardest Pit," the laid-back players' anthem "Ball N-Parlay," and "Who Dat Talking Down" demonstrate the slick ghetto-influenced lyrical style of Big Pokey. Other noteworthy tracks include "Repatation," "Freestyle Pro," and "Heavy Weighters."
Industry Reviews ...Pokey draws you in with his drawl....definitely one of this year's 'picks' of the litter. Another one in the win column... Vibe (12/01/1999)
