Recorded at A & M Recording Studios and Gold Star Studios, Hollywood, California.Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass played hit pop-tunes and movie themes with more than just a hint of the Latin and exotic in their presentations. This turned out to be a very popular combination as they took songs that were anything but Mexican and showed what a touch of mariachi could do for them.Alpert plays his melodies straight, energetically but with little fanfare. His sound produces a brassy glow, and the music relies on special effects like exotic percussion, sound effects and vocal choirs to instill color and novelty. "The Work Song" consists of a poppy melody that features the cast of horns, augmented by an exotic marimba. A romantic favorite, "I Need Your Love" benefits from the sympathetic trumpet.
