The sixth and final season of this popular, ground-breaking series from the 1970s, which focused on a family living in the ghetto of South Chicago, neatly wraps up the twists and turns taken by the Evans family throughout the years. Matriarch Florida Evans (Esther Rolle) returns to the family when Thelma announces her engagement to Keith, J.J. works as a schoolteacher, and Willona continues to struggle to be a good mother to her adopted daughter, Penny (Janet Jackson).
