Album Notes Additional personnel: Johnny Cash, The Carter Family, Barbara Mandrell. Audio Remasterer: Erick Labson. Recording information: 1973 - 1988. GOLD is the best anthology for the average Oak Ridge Boys fan looking for something more than just the basic hits, but not ready to go exploring too deep into the band's voluminous back catalogue. At 35 tracks on 2 discs, it contains all the band's charting singles (including, of course, "Elvira") and a smattering of enjoyable rarities. The set covers only their hit-making years, from the early 1970s through the late '80s, but as an overview of that crucial period, GOLD is indispensable.
