Movie Description Thoroughly charming and totally hilarious day-in-the-life comedy in which co-writer Ice Cube plays the stoic Craig opposite Chris Tucker's Smokey, a brilliantly rendered hyperactive marijuana enthusiast. The two twentysomethings, Craig recently wrongly fired and Smokey terminally slacking and scamming, barely make it through one highly eventful day. Eloquent commentary on themes like community, family, friendship, and violence is seamlessly blended with lighter treatments of young romance, bathroom emergencies, nosy neighbors and much more. Casually impeccable performances by the entire cast make this film a standout.
Industry Reviews "...The sweetest, funniest, most essential Chris Tucker....Ice Cube reveals his melting side....[The air is] funky with the scent of hot young talent..." -- Rating: A- Entertainment Weekly - pp.107-9 - Lisa Schwarzbaum
"...This is one funky, raw, rambling, shambling jokefest..." USA Today - p.8D - Susan Wloszczyna
"...A high-energy comedy....It offers a fascinating glimpse at the way street life enters pop culture....A slick, watchable movie..." New York Times - p.C16 - Caryn James
"...[Tucker's] hit-'em-up-with-everything style keeps the film percolating..." Los Angeles Times - Peter Rainer (04/26/1995)
"...Cube and Jones are a strong team..." Chicago Sun-Times - Roger Ebert (04/26/1995)
