Album Notes Producers include: Judy Collins. Includes liner notes by Judy Collins and Gloria Steinem. Thirty five years into her musical career, Judy Collins remains a legendary presence in folk music. She is possessed of a uniquely sweet, crystalline voice and a genius for interpreting the songs of such greats as Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, and Joni Mitchell, as well as for writing her own. FOREVER is a chronicle of Collins's work, including classics like Mitchell's "Chelsea Morning," and "Both Sides Now," and Stephen Sondheim's "Send in the Clowns." There are also less well-known songs, such as "Nothing Lasts Forever," a new collaboration with The Gin Blossoms' Jesse Valenzuela, who co-wrote and co-produced the song, as well as playing guitar. "Walls (We Are Not Forgotten)," is a moving composition that was inspired by the Korean War Veterans' memorial. The themes of justice and peace arise again and again on FOREVER, providing a common thread. From 1964, when she recorded Dylan's "Masters of War," to 1997 with "Walls," Judy Collins has been a deceptively gentle voice for justice and honesty.
Industry Reviews ...It's all here; unlike most double-disc retrospectives, however, you don't want to use disc two as a coaster. - Rating: B+ Entertainment Weekly (01/09/1998)
