The Kraut-prog of Eloy's retro-futuristic 1974 album FLOATING makes it to CD with three bonus live tracks in tow: "Future City," "Castle in the Air," and "Flying High."
Issued in 1974, Eloy's third album, FLOATING, is widely considered to be one of the German space-rock band's finest records. While the title track has a frenetic pace that belies its name, "The Light from Deep Darkness" presents meditative moments that serve as counterpoint to the outing's busier passages. An underrated prog classic, FLOATING may not be the most original album of its era, but it captures the style's dynamic shifts and bold arrangements remarkably well.
