Movie Description Video director and former Lemonhead Jesse Peretz makes an impressive feature-film directorial debut in this story about first love. Joey and Sissel are living in a one room house along the Lousiana Bayou. Joey struggles with every waking moment to try to come to terms with his intense feelings, while Sissel is the complete opposite, a contrast that puts an eventual strain on their relationship. Peretz's camera lingers through the long summer days and tries to give his characters' unspoken words and emotions all of his attention. This is an admirable aim for anyone, nevermind a newcomer, yet he manages to pull it off with impressive ease.
Industry Reviews "...[A] richly atmospheric debut film..." New York Times - Stephen Holden (08/07/1998)
"...Well-shaped and controlled....Peretz displays a fine sense of tempo and structure and reveals a subtle, understated sensibility..." Los Angeles Times - Kevin Thomas (08/07/1998)
