Tanya Tucker is on a roll. The albums which directly preceded FIRE TO FIRE generated some of the biggest hits of her career, and have done so without extinguishing any of her trademark passion. She remains fiercely sensual yet tender, a growling tiger and a purring kitten.
The title track of Tucker's twenty-eighth album is a consummate vocal duet with one of country's most distinctive voices, as Willie Nelson adds his own brand of smooth ice to cool Tanya's raging fire. "I'll Take The Memories" is a dignified ballad that reflects the kind of strong female characters that Tucker excels in singing about. Her sassy, sly side is well-represented on the crunchy, country blues of "Love Will." And FIRE TO FIRE's first hit, the touching "Between The Two Of Them," is as gently moving as anything she's done in her three decade-long career.
Love's possibilities and disappointments endure as her favorite recurring themes, and Tucker remains in top form on FIRE TO FIRE, proudly showing off the wide rainbow of her unique artistic colors.
