Credits
Cast:John Cleese
Director:J.H. Davies

Synopsis
The third volume of episodes from "Fawlty Towers," including "The Kipper and the Corpse," "Gourmet Night" and "Waldorf Salad."

After he hires a new chef, Basil Fawlty decides to inaugurate a "Gourmet Night" at the hotel. His plan backfires, however, when the chef, lovesick over Manuel, gets drunk and Basil has to look elsewhere for food.

In "Waldorf Salad," An American guest arrives at the hotel late and is disturbed at the quality of service. Basil takes a bribe to keep the kitchen open and pretends the chef (who has gone home) is responsible for all the problems.

Film Notes
"Gourmet Night" was the fifth episode of the first series, originally broadcast on BBC2 on October 17, 1975. This episode also includes Jeffrey Segal, Elizabeth Benson and Tony Page as the Heath family. Priceless moment: Basil giving his car a thrashing.

"Waldorf Salad" was the third episode of the first series, and was originally broadcast on BBC2 on March 5, 1979.

Quotations
"What the hell is wrong with this country? You can't get a drink after three, you can't eat after nine. Is the war still on?" (An American guest at Fawlty Towers in "Waldorf Salad")

"So it's one Scotch and you'll each need a screwdriver?... You can't drink the screwdrivers, can you?" (Basil Fawlty, misunderstanding the American's drinks order)
