Originally issued in 1975, FANCY DANCER is perhaps the finest album that jazz flutist Bobbi Humphrey recorded in her Blue Note heyday. DANCER has a sumptuous production (thanks to Larry Mizell), and finds Humphrey's flute soaring amid funky rhythms (Headhunters drummer Harvey Mason), a touch of Latin flair, and deliciously smooth, near idyllic sonic textures. Both fans and performers of smooth jazz/quiet storm could learn much from this classic platter.
