Industry Reviews K-Gr 4 Like Wilde's prose, Brent's rather formal and stylistic pictures reflect the conventional wisdom of another era. Her full-color illustrations for these nine tales at least two per story shine like illuminations from a medieval Book of Hours and are set within wide, ornate borders. Each page of text is edged in gold and decorated with a featherlike scroll. Recently, two other editions illustrated by Michael Hague (Holt, 1993) and by P.J. Lynch (Macmillan, 1991) have also appeared. Choose this volume for its fine critical introduction, which explains Wilde's tragic past and lack of contemporary acceptance, and for its artwork. Handsome and complete, it would make a splendid selection for bedtime reading. Harriett Fargnoli, Great Neck Library, NY Lopate
