Synopsis In a memoir that by law was submitted to the CIA for review--and that shows the results of that vetting by way of heavy black lines in the text indicating redacted material--Valerie Plame Wilson tells the story of her secret life as a CIA operative, which came to an abrupt end when conservative columnist Robert Novak revealed to the whole world her connection to the intelligence community. Plame Wilson expresses her outrage at what she sees as an act of revenge for an article written by her husband, former ambassador Joseph Wilson, for the New York Times Op-ed page in which he contradicted some of the evidence put forth by the Bush administration as a rationale for the 2003 Iraq invasion. Much of her memoir recalls her service to her country, including her training as a secret operative and some of her actions--all of which were summarily ended by what she claims was a highly illegal--even treasonous--leak by her own government, which put her and others in jeopardy.
