Movie Description
Before checking himself into a hospital for treatment of a terminal illness from which he may never recover, celebrated writer Alexandre spends one last day wandering about town and reminiscing about his past, trying to capture one perfect moment of happiness from his memories. Along the way he befriends a young Albanian boy, who helps him to put his own life into perspective even as he helps the boy with his own problems. Winner of the Palme d'Or at the 1999 Cannes Film Festival, director Angelopoulos' (ULYSSES' GAZE) masterpiece is a meditative and dreamlike look into one man's past and his fondest hopes and wishes.
