Details

Movie Description Based on the novel and play by Margaret Kennedy, this is the story of two musician brothers and the women they love. One of the brothers falls for the other's wealthy fiancee, neglecting the waifish wife who truly loves him.
Synopsis Errol Flynn heads an all-star cast in this melodrama of love and misunderstanding set in pre-World War I Europe.
Flynn and Gig Young play brothers Sebastian and Caryl, two struggling composers who share a flat in Venice. Caryl is engaged to be married to Fenella, a wealthy socialite, while Sebastian is an unrepentant womanizer.
One day Sebastian gives shelter to Gemma, an impoverished young woman with a baby. Trouble starts, however, when Fenella's parents come to pay a surprise visit to their future son-in-law and assume that Gemma is Caryl's lover. They immediately flee to an Alpine resort with their daughter, forcing the trio to go after Fenella to try and explain the confusion. But because Sebastian has never met Fenella, more mix-ups are yet to come.
Film Notes The ballet sequence is performed by Milada Mladova and George Zoritch.
