Enrique Iglesias does his illustrious family proud with the spirited, dance club-friendly ENRIQUE. Already having made a well-received resurfacing with "Bailamos" on the WILD WILD WEST soundtrack, this hunky singer has clearly grown up a bit and sounds better than ever on this fully bilingual production. And the Groove Brothers' contribution as producers makes for a winning combination of traditional organica, electronic pulsation, and pop allure.
Enrique lifts el ritmo on high on "Rhythm Divine," declaring the romantic power of the beat to the entrancing sounds of Spanish guitars and hazy electronic loops. "Could I Have This Kiss Forever" is another Iberian-tinged fantasy, only this one unfolds slowly as a rose with Whitney Houston bringing vocal honey to the duet. Part of what makes this Latino so appealing to non-Spanish speakers (besides his handsome mug) must be his groovy wrapping of memorable, simple Spanish phrases in English verses, along with the fact that he also offers three of the tunes in both languages.

3 stars out of 5 - ...sounds uncannily like Chris Isaak throughout, boasts a fine set of pipes, strums some outrageously lovely Spanish guitar, and ensures there's enough pure corn to keep Dad happy. Slightly better than you might expect.
