Details

Synopsis A grandmother teaches her granddaughter the art of weaving in this story set in Guatemala. The duo produces all sorts of beautiful products but worries about selling them on market day. Machine-produced clothes are so much less expensive than theirs, and also, some villagers consider the grandmother a witch because of the birthmark on her face. On market day, the duo travel into the village together but pretend not to know each other. Their products are very popular and even outsell the less expensive machine-made works. On the bus ride back to their home, the girl and grandmother proudly sit together no longer afraid of technology or prejudice. This is a Spanish-language version of the book.
