Movie Description This 3-pack contains the following three Latin films:
EL PORTERO (THE GOALKEEPER): A demoted soccer goalkeeper rocks a small Spanish town during the political upheaval of the Franco dictatorship. Formerly a regular player in the major leagues, Ramiro Forteza (Carmelo Gomez) is now reduced to making public appearances and giving demonstrations. After arriving in Asturias, he meets a stunning villager, Manuela (Maribel Verdu, Y TU MAMA TAMBIEN), and her son, Tito (Adrian Ramirez). Ramiro and Manuela begin a love affair. Meanwhile, the military police (known as the Guardia Civil) challenge the poverty-stricken villagers to act out political rebellion on the soccer field.
MUERTOS DE RISA (DYING OF LAUGHTER): 1970s comedy duo Nino (Santiago Segura) and Bruno (El Gran Wyoming) rose to fame after a chance meeting and a first gig that should have been considered a disaster. With Bruno as the straight man and Nino as the "dumb" half of the team, their act was based on humiliation, which eventually led to destructive off-screen resentment. Now, years later, they are on the way to their reunion show--with the wedge between them as wide as ever. On the eve of this history-making broadcast, their manager recounts the few ups and the copious downs of this painfully mismatched--yet still beloved--comic duo. This unique black comedy was co-written and directed by acclaimed Spanish director Alex de la Iglesia (DAY OF THE BEAST).
MASTERPIECE (OBRA MAESTRO): Two misfit movie buffs, Benito (Santiago Segura) and Carolo (Pablo Carbonell), realize that watching movies to escape their drab, everyday lives is not enough for them--they want to MAKE a movie! So they write a musical and acquire an 8mm camera...but they need a star. They approach their favorite actress, Amanda Castro (Ariadna Gil), who is young and beautiful, but whose career has become marred by drug abuse and tempestuousness. She declines, but that is not enough to deter Benito and Carolo, who kidnap her and take her to a house in the woods to begin filming their masterpiece. This unusual Spanish comedy/drama was written and directed by David Trueba.
