Synopsis In this combination cookbook and memoir, Kenny Shopsin recounts his experiences as the cook/proprietor of the Greenwich Village restaurant that for many years bore his name. Shopsin's did not appeal to everyone's sense of style--and he couldn't care less. Kenny has strong opinions and he is out to please himself, which sometimes meant refusing service to those he deemed unworthy, for whatever reason known or unknown to him. There was a rule against parties of five, and no two at the same table could order the same item! His love of family and the joy of cooking comes through and he shares a whole lot of recipes, such as Patsy's Cashew Chicken, Blisters on My Sisters, and Plain, Ho, and Slutty Pancakes. EAT ME is also a visual delight, with photos of the Shopsins at work and play, many plates of food, and the full Shopsin's menu--which runs to 12 pages!

Industry Reviews "Reading about Shopsin's is actually more fun than eating at Shopsin's; the book provides access to the food without the yelling and the edge of fear." (10/21/2008)
"Shopsin's writing is much like his cooking: blunt and flavorful." (12/05/2008)
