Oscher manages to mix and match styles and instruments in an unforced, informal, highly inviting manner.
3 stars out of 5 - You can almost feel his hurt and feel the modulated delight he takes in performing material identified with Robert Johnson, Sonny Boy Williamson, Duke Ellington, and the Southern Baptist church.
It's gut-bucket, down-in-the-Delta rawness with a traveling man's twist and background, consistently played in the style of the blues masters, but not in imitation of them.
