Movie Description A reporter goes undercover to get a story on a safe haven for political prisoners, ultimately being forced to confront her own past while exposing the corrupt dealmaking in Third-World politics. Raul Julia's final film role.
Synopsis When journalist Helen McNulty and her photographer boyfriend Jan are assigned to interview a Central American rebel leader, the two witness a brutal political protest. Taken prisoner by the secret police, Helen survives the abuse, but the thugs murder her boyfriend. When Helen, in a deep state of mourning, returns home, she attends a symposium for victims of political torture. There, she befriends Anna Lenke, a Holocaust survivor, who helps Helen overcome her suffering.
Film Notes This was actor Raul Julia's last film. He died of cancer 6 days after shooting ended.
