DISCOUNT FIREWORKS is a 15-track anthology of Over the Rhine's tenure on the Back Porch label, spanning the years 2001 to 2005. Covering tracks from FILMS FOR RADIO, the double-disc masterpiece OHIO, and THE DRUNKARD'S PRAYER, this set is a solid overview of the Cincinnati quintet's brand of largely acoustic adult-alternative pop. However, while longtime fans will appreciate the sole new song, "Last Night On Earth," DISCOUNT FIREWORKS is clearly aimed more for the casual fan or newcomer.
