Movie Description Las Vegas, 1950. 13-year-old Rose (Annabeth Gish) lives with her mother Lily (JoBeth Williams), her two sisters and her stepfather Jack (Jon Voight). Their already unusual family life gets turned upside-down when aunt Starr (Ellen Barkin) comes for a visit--which coincides with government testing of the A-bomb in the nearby desert. Full of sharp performances, DESERT BLOOM is a critically acclaimed portrait of a family struggling to hold itself together in the face of frightening possibilities.
