Industry Reviews "...Lehane is one of those brave new detective stylists who is not afraid of fooling around with the genre's traditions....This is his second Kenzie and Gennaro saga, and clearly their unquiet efforts to age with dignity and learn something about love are are a sustaining mark of this series. Combine that attention to the young detectives with taut writing and an insistent focus on the grim intimacies of crime and care that sustain them amid the changes that have come to their old Boston neighborhood, and you have a very winning series indeed." Washington Post Book World - Paul Skenazy (07/21/1996)
"...he's [Lehane] created a villain who's both surprising and grimly fascinating: The kind of figure one hates but can't stop reading about." Townshend
