Movie Description Cybill Shepherd stars as Daisy Miller, a beautiful, young American being introduced into European society in the 1800s, whose headstrong ways end in tragedy. Frederick Winterbourne (Barry Brown) is immediately drawn to the fetching Daisy, though her youthful high spirits and American frankness clash with Continental etiquette: she's a chatterbox who won't let anyone get a word in edgewise, she's extremely belligerent, and she insists on keeping company with the suave Italian Mr. Giovanelli (Duilio Del Prete) without a chaperone. Naive, trusting, and unaware of the proper behavior, Daisy can't understand why the gentry are shocked by her innocent actions. Cloris Leachman stars as Daisy's mother, Mrs. Ezra B. Miller, and Eileen Brennan appears as Mrs. Walker, the hub of Rome's opulent high society. Directed by Peter Bogdanovich (THE LAST PICTURE SHOW, PAPER MOON), the film is based on the Henry James novel of the same name and was filmed on location in Rome and Switzerland.
Synopsis Director Peter Bogdanovich's version of the Henry James novel set in the 1800s stars Cybill Shepherd as Daisy, a rich American who takes the grand tour of Europe to mingle with others of her class and hope that breeding rubs off; however Daisy's mixture of American exuberance and fondness for candid expression is at odds with European high society, and instead she finds herself rubbing people the wrong way.
