Movie Description Director John G. Avildsen's wild and raunchy comedy stars Allen Garfield as Jake Masters, a sex-obsessed, wise-cracking, 300 lb. private eye who is hired by millionaire Jacob Dominic (David Kirk) to solve a black-mail inspired murder. Lucile Reynolds, a hooker and porn actress has been murdered, and Dominic has been framed for the ghastly deed. Although, Lucile had been blackmailing Dominic with footage of a porn video that they had taken part in, the powerful millionaire swears his innocence. With the help of Cora Merril (Madeleine Le Roux), Dominic's paid mistress, and his horny nephew Keith (Devin Goldenberg), Jake is on the elusive case. Soon Masters and Merril are looking for clues in this hysterical sexcapade, complete with pot-smoking, whacked-out cops, raunchy hookers, and a hysterically irreverent necrophelia scene. Masters is a raunchy combination of Hercule Poirot, James Bond, and the Blues Brothers, sporting a way with women, poetry, and a keen eye for mysterious details in this oddball caper. An amusing blend of irreverent porn and mysterious satire that highlights a clever and raunchy script by David Odell, loosely based on LIVE A LITTLE, DIE A LITTLE by crimewriter Michael Brett.
