Movie Description
Groucho plays an agent who books the same nightclub singer at the Copacabana under the two different names--the Brazilian Bombshell and Madamoiselle Fifi. The colorized version doesn't add much.
Synopsis
Singing, dancing and showgirls galore enliven this musical comedy set in the famed New York nightclub "The Copacabana." Groucho Marx, sans brothers, appears as sleazy theatrical agent Lionel Devereaux; his one client is none other than fruit-bedecked songstress Carmen Miranda. Comic shenanigans ensue when Devereaux books her for two appearances in the club on the same night -- as two different people! The singer is forced to turn quick-change artist as she attempts to perform both shows simultaneously.
Film Notes
Columnists Louis Sobol (New York Journal-American) and Earl Wilson (New York Post), and editor Abel Green (Variety) make cameo appearances as themselves.
This was Groucho Marx's first film appearance without his brothers.
Carmen Miranda was actually headlining at the Copa when the film opened.
