Album Notes All tracks have been digitally remastered using HDCD technology. Remarkably, Judy Collins's 1972's COLORS OF THE DAY came out only three years after 1969's RECOLLECTIONS: THE BEST OF JUDY COLLINS and contains no overlapping material with the earlier compilation. If anything, it's an even better collection. Where RECOLLECTIONS focused on Collins's more purist early folk material, COLORS OF THE DAY gathers 12 tracks from Collins' most artistically fruitful period, from '66 to '71. Combining songs from the masterful IN MY LIFE and WILDFLOWERS, two brilliant albums arranged by the chamber-folk eccentric Joshua Rifkin, with the better tunes from the three more pop-oriented albums that followed, this is a well-chosen introduction containing much of the best material from this era. Although many Collins fans will want the original albums, COLORS OF THE DAY is essential for newcomers.
