Album Notes
Sixpence None The Richer includes: Matt Slocum, Leigh Nash, Dale Baler, Tess Wiley, J.J. Placencio.
When the single "Kiss Me" was featured on the DAWSON CREEK soundtrack and reached the Top 10, many assumed that Sixpence None the Richer was a new band. In fact, not only was the self-titled album from which "Kiss Me" was taken nearly a year old, but it was also the fourth release by the Texas-bred, Nashville-based band.
Flying Tart, Sixpence None the Richer's original label, released COLLAGE: A PORTRAIT OF THEIR BEST to capitalize on the band's newfound success. The disc is a well-considered overview of the group's mid-'90s career, gathering 15 tracks from the albums THIS BEAUTIFUL MESS, THE FATHERLESS AND THE WIDOW, and TICKETS FOR A PRAYER WHEEL, along with such rarities as a striking remix of the excellent "Love, Salvation, The Fear of Death" and a charming run through "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch." Those seduced by "Kiss Me" should find COLLAGE an excellent introduction to this folk-pop band's early charms.
