Synopsis
Chrysanthemum experiences the kindergarten nightmare of being made fun of, only to have the last word. The little white mouse loves and adores her name until the first day of school, when everyone makes fun of her mercilessly. Chrysanthemum has no idea her name is unusual until snooty Victoria points it out. Soon, Chrysanthemum is longing for something much plainer, like Jane. But when Mrs. Twinkle--the music teacher--steps in, she saves the day. With colorful illustrations., Chrysanthemum loves her name, until she starts going to school and the other children make fun of it.

Publisher's Notes
First Line: "The day she was born was the happiest day in her parents' lives."

Industry Reviews
"The impressionistic floral backdrops and patterning reinforce the story's lighthearted, yet tender theme. This sensitive story will strike a chord with young children, particularly those who also have difficult or unfamiliar names."
