Album Notes Personnel includes: Louis Jordan, Ella Fitzgerald, Bing Crosby (vocals); The Tympany Five. One of literally dozens of Louis Jordan anthologies of widely warying quality, CHOO CHOO CH-BOOGIE ends up towards the top of the list in terms of both song selection and sound quality. Jordan's jump blues is an under-acknowledged influence on early rock and roll, but since the popularity of the Off-Broadway musical FIVE GUYS NAMED MOE, based on Jordan's songs, and his popularity with the swing revival set of the late '90s, Jordan's popularity has grown to levels almost equivalent to his late '40s heyday. CHOO CHOO CH'BOOGIE gathers 25 classic Jordan performances, including his signature tunes "Is You Is Or Is You Ain't My Baby," "Five Guys Named Moe," "Let the Good Times Roll" and "Ain't Nobody Here But Us Chickens." Other highlights include a duet with Bing Crosby and two terrific performances with a young and sassy Ella Fitzgerald.
