A 20th-century astronaut wakes up from a deep freeze to find himself in a world 400 years in his future. In addition to the futureshock, he must also prove he is not an agent for the sinister Princess Ardala and her imperial pirates who wish to make Earth the newest addition to the Draconian Empire. Of course, the debonair Captain Rogers (with the help of mechanoids Twiki and Dr. Theopolis) manages to save not only himself, but also Colonel Wilma Deering, the Earth Directorate, and the world. Based on characters from the Philip Nowlan novel "Armageddon 2419 A.D." Although originally produced for television as a series pilot (airing September 20, 1979), this film was briefly released theatrically.
Synopsis
The television pilot for the TV series "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century" chronicles the adventures of the astronaut, who has been in suspended animation for 500 years. When he awakes, he finds himself in a futuristic society that is under siege by the wicked Princess Ardala. Can Buck successfully defend the inhabitants against the ruthless ruler?
