Synopsis
This is the first installment in the new V.C. Andrews series Early Spring, and it has all the expected Andrews staples: the innocent girl forced to live with her wealthy and cruel grandmother, a protective but outcast older brother, and many vague allusions to incest. The heroine of the novel is Jordan March, a wide-eyed 11-year-old whose body is several steps ahead of her mental development. Her brother, Ian, is fascinated with her new physical changes, and begins to study her development in what he calls "The Sister Project." When Grandmother Emma learns of the project, she casts Jordan out, and Jordan's own parents are unable to protest, as they are both incapacitated by a tragic car accident. Jordan's story continues with many twists and turns, and the novel leaves plenty of room for the next book to pick up and carry on the Early Spring saga.
